West Texas Intermediate advanced for the first time in three days in New York. Brent also rose, extending the premium to WTI. WTI for June delivery rose 73 cents, or 0.7 percent, to $102.17 a barrel at 9:11 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Yesterday’s close of $101.44 was the lowest since April 7. The volume of all futures traded was 11 percent below the 100-day average. Prices have gained 3.8 percent this year. Brent for June settlement was 82 cents higher at $109.93 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange. The European benchmark crude was at a premium of $7.76 to WTI, up from yesterday’s $7.67.
